Hix Heat Presses
Hix heat presses are used to permanently apply a heat transfer to a surface . Common transfer types are Heat Transfer Vinyl cut with a Vinyl Cutter, Printable Heat Transfer Vinyl, Inkjet Transfer Paper, Laser Transfer Paper, Plastisol Transfers, and Sublimation. Using a Hix Heat Press to apply a heat transfer is a way to ensure accurate time, temperature, and pressure, which are all essential to the transfer process.
Clamshell Models
Clamshell heat presses lift the upper heat platen away from the lower heat platen. This allows for easier access to both platens which is why it is recommended for inexperienced users. Most clamshell models don’t work very well with thicker materials but Hix clamshell models are designed with a pressure adjuster to help with this problem
Some other features that come with this model include:
- Digital time and temperature settings
- Touch-screen controller
- Pressure readings
- Tilting lower platen
- Certified electrically safe
Swing-Away Models
Swing-away heat presses don’t open up like the clamshell model. The upper platen swings to the side to allow full access to the lower platen and not expose the heated upper platen to the user. This helps to prevent burns from the user. Typically, most businesses prefer this type of model because it offers even pressure and it’s easily portable.
Some other features that come with this model include:
- Accepts items 1.75 inches thick
- Right swing-away design
- Temperature controls
- Manual timer

Specialty Models
Specialty models are used to apply designs onto small application surfaces such as shirt pockets, name badges, gloves, hats, and more. Often times a large amount of room on the heat platens makes it hard to complete small designs. Different specialized machines are used for different types of articles.
Some other features that come with this model include:
- Certified electrically safe
- Manual adjustments
- Custom platens
- Timers (manual or automatic)
Features vary depending on the type of specialized model.
Warranty
For all of these heat presses it includes a 1 year general warranty for malfunctioning parts and a lifetime warranty for the heating elements.
